MSU CSE Capstone update 3/28

28 March, 2012 § Leave a comment

It is the end of the twelfth week of the project to move the preferences to in-content UI. There are approximately three weeks left to get the project done.

Status update

This has been another busy week for the project. The students sat in on a Firefox team meeting on Monday and got to talk about their work. They are currently trying to get the patches finished up in their final state before we can check them in. Devan finished writing her test for the about:config preference, browser.preferences.inContent, and Owen worked on some performance improvements for the search implementation.

The in-content preferences are now available for testing on the UX Nightly branch.

The last big piece remaining for the project before we can land these patches is to get a copy of the current preference tests running against the new in-content preferences. This is being tracked in bug 731866.

Next steps

Visual polish will be handled in bug 738796 and enabling the new in-content preferences will be handled in bug 738797. We will probably end up treating the visual polish bug as a meta bug since there will likely be many small and independent changes needed.
